Adenosine Deaminase (ADA) is an enzyme present in the human body that plays an essential role in the breakdown of adenosine, which is a compound involved in various cellular functions.
The first description of the enzyme Adenosine Deaminase (ADA) for diagnostic use occurred in 1970 in patients with lung cancer and in 1978 its use was described for the diagnosis of tuberculosis.
There are several types of tuberculosis: pulmonary, miliary, bone, ganglionic, cerebral, intestinal, ocular and pleural. The extrapulmonary form has its signs and symptoms depending on the organs and/or systems affected, occurring more frequently in people with HIV, especially those with immune compromise.
Pleural tuberculosis is the most common extrapulmonary form and, as recommended by the Ministry of Health through the public policies of the National Tuberculosis Control Program (PNCT), the Adenosine Deaminase dosage is the complementary diagnostic method to be used in cases of suspected pleural tuberculosis.
Although the main indication for the ADA test is for the diagnosis of pleural tuberculosis, its use is also recommended for other infectious pathologies, hepatitis, diabetes mellitus and various other conditions that involve an immune response, especially from T cells.
Considering the importance of this diagnosis, Ebram has made the kit available to the market CHEMIADA - ADENOSINE DEAMINASEinserted in the Biochemistry Line. Used for the quantitative determination of Adenosine Deaminase activity in human serum, plasma, pleural fluid and cerebrospinal fluid samples, it is a colorimetric, automated method, with an easy, fast, reproducible and low-cost dosing technique, capable of aiding in the early diagnosis of pleural tuberculosis, especially with regard to its negative predictive value (around 0.98%) - which favors the exclusion of suspected patients who do not have pleural TB.
Ebram ADA Reagent: precision and fast results
Below are the main characteristics of this exclusive reagent:
The enzymatic method allows ADA to be carried out on any biochemical analyzer, fully automated, providing greater reliability, speed, precision and safety in the results released by laboratories.
The main support and reference laboratories in Brazil already use the QUIMIADA - ADENOSINE DEAMINASE kit, which shows its reliability and safety of use.
