In recent years, the importance of rapid tests has gained prominence, mainly due to the global experience with the Covid-19 pandemic, which has highlighted how a rapid diagnosis is fundamental for the correct screening of patients and the rapid start of treatment.
Rapid tests continue to be an essential tool in screening for diseases, especially in times of epidemics and outbreaks.
Arboviruses such as Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya represent a constant challenge for public health in Brazil. Transmitted by the Aedes aegyptiIn addition, these diseases have very similar symptoms, such as fever, headache, body aches and spots on the skin, which makes clinical diagnosis difficult. During outbreaks or in regions with difficult access to laboratory services, rapid diagnosis is essential for identifying the disease and defining the most appropriate treatment.
In this context, rapid tests have emerged as a practical, safe and efficient solution for initial screening, allowing for a more agile response both in patient care and in epidemiological surveillance actions.
Rapid tests are immunological tests that use immunochromatography methodology, a technique that allows the presence of antigens or antibodies in whole blood, serum or plasma samples to be detected qualitatively.
The procedure is simple: the sample is added to a device containing a reagent strip with specific antibodies or antigens. A diluent is then added to facilitate the flow of the sample along the strip and optimize the reaction between the components. If there is a reaction between the sample components and the reagent strip, a colored line appears in the test region, indicating a positive result; if the test line does not appear, it indicates a negative result. The result is usually read within 10 to 15 minutes and does not require complex laboratory infrastructure.
Because of their practicality, rapid tests are ideal for health units, doctors' surgeries and emergency situations.
Indicated for the first few days of infection, this test qualitatively detects the NS1 antigen of the Dengue virus, a protein present in the blood in the early stages of the disease, before antibodies are produced. It is therefore an essential tool for the early diagnosis of dengue.
The rapid test for Zika detects IgG and IgM antibodies.
The rapid test for Chikungunya also identifies IgM and IgG antibodies. Unlike the others, this test has two separate displays on the device: one for IgM and one for IgG, making it easier to read and interpret the results.
All kits are compatible with whole blood, serum or plasma - including capillary bloodThis makes them ideal for sites with limited infrastructure, eliminating the need for venipuncture. This makes them ideal for sites with limited infrastructure, eliminating the need for venipuncture.
To ensure the effectiveness of the tests, the kits must be stored between 2 °C and 30 °C, and may remain at room temperature or under refrigeration, provided they are sealed and in suitable conditions. The diluent supplied, once opened, remains stable for up to 12 months and must be stored without freezing to ensure its performance.
Each test comes packaged in individual sachets with silica gelIt also protects against moisture. It is therefore essential that the sachet is only opened at the time of use, guaranteeing the integrity of the reagents.
All the kits are ready for useThe components are individually packaged. This makes day-to-day handling easier and reduces the risk of operational error.
A interpreting the results is simple and straightforwardwith devices that have a built-in control lineindicating that the test was performed correctly.
Ebram also adopts strict quality criteria to guarantee the reliability of the tests: before any batch is marketed, a pre-sample is sent for evaluation by our Quality Control. Only after approval is the batch released for sale.
Offering quality products is part of our commitment to health. Our rapid tests for arboviruses help with early and reliable diagnosis, directly contributing to effective actions to combat these diseases.
