New! Turb HbA1c - Glycated Hemoglobin in the Ebram Turbidimetry range

The measurement of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is considered the gold standard in the diagnosis and monitoring of diabetes mellitus, making it possible to assess long-term glycemic control.

Hemoglobin is a protein found in red blood cells, which are responsible for transporting oxygen in the body. When bound to glucose (sugar), it is called glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c). High levels of glucose in the blood increase this binding, raising HbA1c values.

The HbA1c measurement gives a true picture of blood glucose over the last 2 to 3 months, a period that corresponds to the life cycle of red blood cells. Unlike serum glucose, which changes rapidly after eating. For this reason, it is a fundamental parameter for diagnosing pre-diabetes or diabetes and for monitoring glycemic control in patients who have already been diagnosed. Over the years, different methodologies have been developed for determining HbA1c, such as HPLC, immunoassays and enzymatic methods, each with its own particularities in terms of accuracy, cost and applicability.

Ebram is launching a kit for measuring HbA1c using the immunoturbidimetric method, a reliable, safe and cost-effective alternative, ideal for laboratories that want to reduce costs without sacrificing the accuracy and reliability of the results.

Learn more about the advantages of the Turb HbA1c - Glycated Hemoglobin kit.

In the immunoturbidimetry method, the HbA1c present in the sample binds to latex particles contained in the reagent. A second reagent containing anti-HbA1c antibodies is then added, forming complexes that promote agglutination. The intensity of the turbidity is proportional to the concentration of HbA1c and measured by absorbance.

The great advantage, besides being an accurate and reliable technique, is that it doesn't require dedicated equipment and can be used in any biochemical and turbidimetric analyzer, making it easy for any laboratory to use, without additional investment in infrastructure.

The kit has only 2 reagents, liquid and ready to use, eliminating the need for additional preparation, which saves time for the technical team and ensures greater stability of the reagents.

Calibration is carried out with just four calibrator levels, simplifying the routine without compromising the reliability of the results. In addition, the control kit contains 2 levels, normal and pathological, which allows analytical performance to be monitored in a more complete way

The kit does not come with a hemolyzer, as the samples can only be prepared with deionized or distilled water, which is readily available in the laboratory. The function of the water is to cause an osmotic difference, causing the red blood cells to absorb water, swell and rupture, releasing the hemoglobin contained inside the cells, which is then ready for analysis.

Finally, a decisive differential is the cost per test, which is considered to be the most competitive on the market. This advantage guarantees the laboratory greater savings without sacrificing the precision and safety of the results.
